Abstract
This trade indicator measures economic development and contributes to the economic growth of a country. It measures the value of the goods exported and identifies the major exports that contribute to the total value of the goods exported. For a good to be considered an export, it needs to be produced or substantially transformed within that specific country/economic territory.

Other characteristics
The composition and growth in goods exported measures the increase or decrease in the value of the goods leaving the country. It also highlights the main goods that contributed to the total value of exports. A positive percentage change in the value of goods exported means that there was an increase in the value of exports over the previous period while a negative percentage change signifies that the exports value decreased. Increased exports contribute to employment, increased standard of living and increased foreign exchange.
