Other characteristics
Statistical Capacity is a nation’s ability to collect, analyze, and disseminate high-quality data about its population and economy. Quality statistics are essential for all stages of evidence-based decision-making, including: Monitoring social and economic indicators Allocating political representation and government resources Guiding private sector investment Informing the international donor community for program design and policy formulation
Classification used
Statistical systems can be described as either centralised or decentralised depending on the extent to which responsibility for compiling official statistics rests with the central institution which is usually the national statistical office (NSO). NSS can be defined as the group of organisations or agencies (or specialist statistical units within those organisations or agencies) who together collect, process and disseminate official statistics on behalf of the government of a country. The Belize National Statistical System (BNSS) is a network of agencies that produce national statistics for the country of Belize. The BNSS portal is the official source for indicators and metadata for the country of Belize. The portal can be accessed from https://sib.org.bz/data-portals/bnss/.
